mandarji's journey...


Mandar Chandwadkar’s theatre experience dates back to his school days. During 1987-88 he did his first professional play titled AAMHI SHALET JAANAR (Marathi). He did a total number of 76 shows before moving on to his next assignment. In 2001 he had one of his greatest breaks in the theatre. He acted in the popular Marathi play ALL THE BEST which later came to be adapted in Hindi and English. In a span of one year he did around 426 shows of the play. In 2003 he acted in yet another Marathi comedy called JODI TUZI MAAZI.


In 1998 he formed his own theatre group called Pratibimb and performed in three Hindi/Urdu comedies. He has directed several one-act plays and in various competitions has received the ‘best actor’ prize. Mandar has also acted in a Gujarati play called KOI NU PATANG KOI CHAGAVE and in 2003 was offered the main role in PUNCH A TANTRA, an English play for children. The play produced by Ashwin Gidwani has done more than 130 shows and has been performed in Europe. Currently Mandar alongside other acting assignments is also doing the Hindi version of the play which he himself has directed. He has modeled for a number of Tv commercials and has also done press ads. 

He has been active in both Hindi and Marathi teleserials and has acted in over 30 of them. He has even acted in a number of documentary films for Doordarshan. Recently he did a Marathi film called ‘Mission Champion’. The film was selected for being screened at the Asian Film Festival. For the past two years he has been engaged with dubbing and voiceovers and has played the lead role in a short Hindi film directed by Dev Benegal.
